HO-CHUNK, INC. ANNOUNCES 2008 SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Winnebago, Nebraska-- Ho-Chunk, Inc. (HCI), the economic development corporation owned by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska has announced details of its 2008 Summer Internship Program.  The HCI Summer Intern Program will provide valuable work experience within a business environment to outstanding college students ranging from the first year through the master’s level.  Up to five paid internship positions with the corporation are available for the summer session.  Internships will last twelve weeks beginning on May 12th and ending on August 1, 2008. 

All applicants must submit a letter of interest, resume, application and two letters of reference no later than Friday, April 4, 2008.  An interview will be scheduled for each applicant who submits a completed application and meets the criteria outlined below.   Final selection will be based on submitted application materials and interview results.

  1. Must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or above
  2. Must have a valid drivers license and be insurable
  3. Must be a U.S. Citizen
  4. Must be an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska or another federally recognized tribe.   Preference is given to Winnebago Tribal members.
  5. Must come from an accredited U.S. college or university
  6. Must be majoring in an area of Business, Management, Accounting, Finance, Tribal Management, Law, Computer Science or Engineering, Telecommunications, Economics, Sales/Marketing, Behavior Science, or related degree program.

Program scheduling may be subject to change based on individual interns and various school schedules. 

The purpose of the HCI Internship Program is to provide summer employment with positive work/training experience to identify and track qualified tribal members for possible regular full-time employment.  Interns will receive project-focused assignments and challenging objectives to help prepare them for “real-world” business experiences.  Each intern will be assigned a supervisor/coach based on their educational and career goals.  Developmental opportunities may include meetings with managerial and corporate executives, various education workshops, subsidiary information exchanges, strategic planning sessions, networking events and other relevant activities.

“HCI has offered an internship program to qualified candidates for several years in an effort to provide opportunities for Winnebago college students who show promise in a variety of business fields.  The internship program also provides HCI with a wonderful resource of qualified employees to help us meet our short and long-term mission of economic development for the Winnebago Tribe” stated Sharon Bass, Operations Manager.  “We’re excited to once again offer this program to Native American students throughout the country who are seeking a business career.”
